It’s always difficult to keep the work ethic going in August, the weather has finally picked up and the prospect of having a drink in the garden seems much more inviting than going back to my work room to continue building another model. There is also a definite French vibe in the air, with the Paris Olympics and the warm night air. This made me think I should share a project I made a little while ago. A beautiful French villa, with a wonderful stone texture to the walls and typical clay tiled roof. Reproducing these elements in miniature was great fun, and there was much experimenting with plaster of Paris to create just the right bumpy wall surface, and I used laser cut layers of wood to make the pattern of the roof tiles. Looking back at this project almost makes me feel like I’m on holiday!
