Over the last few weeks, I’ve been digging about in my archives – well; ok, the cupboard under the stairs, looking through old notebooks and portfolios. I’ve decided, after last month’s revelation that I’ve been in business as a modelmaker for 29 years, that I want to collate my projects and think about how to mark next year’s big 30! There are plans brewing, but just for now I’m not going to elaborate.

Anyway, all this searching has led to a few projects being uncovered that I had completely forgotten about. I found a whole folder of hand drawn plans, which is how I used to prepare to make my models before computer drawing. I found a plan of a house in Notting Hill and then realised that a little piece of architectural moulding, which has been sitting on a shelf in my workshop, came from that job.  It means that this tiny scrap of carved wood has been lying on my shelf for over 20 years! I like arranging my miniature architectural scrapyard on the mantelpiece, but didn’t think some of the bits I have were made so long ago.
